During the CinemaCon event, Lionsgate announced the anticipated premiere date for the prequel to the popular Hunger Games trilogy.The film, titled The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, will hit screens beginning November 17, 2023.Susan Collins' fourth book, set in a dystopian future society, was released in May 2020, and a prequel and spin-off was announced even before its publication.The new film will be set 64 years before Katniss Everdeen took part in the traditional Hunger Games.We will see the Games almost at the very beginning of the origin of the tradition, and the main character of the story will be Coriolanus Snow, the future president of Panem.During the 10th Hunger Games, Snow is assigned to mentor a girl from the Twelfth District, Lucy Gray.And he develops such a liking for her that he begins to help the contestant in unauthorized ways.We will see how a charming and friendly teenager turns into a future tyrant.So far, the actors who will appear in the prequel are not named.But Francis Lawrence, who directed all but the first part of The Hunger Games, has already been entrusted with directing.
