New \"Fantastic Four\" director quits

John Watts (\"Spider-Man: No Way Home\") has left the directing job of Marvel Studios' \"Fantastic Four\" reboot.
He attributed his departure to a desire to distance himself from superhero movies.
\"Making three Spider-Men was an incredible and life-changing experience for me.
I am eternally grateful to have been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for seven years.
I hope we can work together again, but in the meantime, I can't wait to see the new version of the Fantastic Four.
\"Watts' decision was supported by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feigy.
The upcoming \"Four\" reboot first became known in December 2020, but the screenwriter's name, release date and cast are still unknown. To date, three feature-length \"Four\" films have been released: the 2005 film and its sequel, \"Invasion of the Silver Surfer,\" and the critically and fan-defeated 2015 version.
Watts will soon direct a thriller starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt for Apple TV+ and has a hand in producing the new \"Destination Point.\"
