Psychonauts 2 has become the most successful game in Double Fine's history

Psychonauts 2 has received very good reviews, but it's hard to say anything concrete about the game's commercial success - the Double Fine team has not published sales reports.
Lisette Titre-Montgomery, the studio's former art director, announced that she had left Double Fine after four years, and noted that under her guidance Psychonauts 2 was born \"the highest rated and best selling game to date\" in the studio's history.My leadership resulted in shipping @DoubleFine highest rated and best selling game to date.

Accordingly, the sequel's sales were expected to exceed at least 1.7 million copies.The sequel's scores are also higher (although not by much): the first Psychonauts has 96% on Steam and 87 out of 100 on Metacritic (on PC), the second Psychonauts has 97% on Steam and 89 out of 100 on Metacritic (on PC).
Despite the success of the franchise, we are unlikely to see Psychonauts 3 in the near future: the head of Double Fine Tim Schafer said that the studio's next project is not a sequel or a remake.
