Dead or Alive 7 was in development, but has already been canceled

No confirmation from Koei Tecmo yet, but apparently the Japanese company has canceled Dead or Alive 7, a game being developed by Team Ninja's internal division.
In fact, the situation is not too clear; a Team Ninja member posted a series of tweets on the subject and then made the profile private, apparently realizing that he had said too much, perhaps sharing confidential information, or perhaps because the details in question are incorrect.
A small Team Ninja team had reportedly been working on Dead or Alive 7 for a long time, but it appears that the project has been canceled.The Dead or Alive series has struggled to establish itself in the face of stiff competition in recent years, with Street Fighter and Tekken continuing to gain players, while the Koei Tecmo series, in particular Dead or Alive 6, has not been as successful as expected.
