Deal for $300 million: Embracer buys the rights to Tomb Raider and Deus Ex

Representatives of Embracer Group announced a massive deal - the organization is going to buy three studios and the rights to several game series from Square Enix.In particular, we are talking about Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Thief, Legacy of Kain and more than 50 games from the Square Enix Holdings catalog.
Among the studios - Crystal Dynamics, Eidos-Montreal and Square Enix Montreal, which have about 1100 employees.
At the same time Square Enix will continue to publish some of its other game series like Just Cause and Life is Strange.
With the agreement Square Enix expects to adapt to the upcoming \"change in global business\" and explore new industries such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, and cloud technology. The total amount of the deal is $300 million - if the agreement is approved by the relevant organizations, it is planned to be closed in the second fiscal quarter of the year, i.e., by September 2022.
