EA is rethinking its Battlefield production process and isn't going to abandon BF2042 just yet

Electronic Arts held a financial report where investors inquired about the fate of Battlefield 2042.
Many of the external signs indicate that the game is rapidly rolling into the abyss, but EA assures that it is not going to drop it anytime soon.CEO Andrew Wilson was asked: if the community reacted sluggishly to the last major update to BF2042, does that mean EA will start winding down support for the game? No, and again: in this case we are looking at the long term.
This is one of the great franchises in our industry, being developed by one of the great teams in the industry.
We expect the franchise to continue to grow and remain a very important part of our portfolio for years to come. This team has great leaders right now.
They're rethinking the production process from the ground up, and they're pushing a Vince Zampella and Respawn-inspired model of \"getting to the point where the game gets interesting as fast as possible.\" They're making thousands of updates to the community, working on quality of life, and working very hard to get the core of the game right.
In my opinion, we still have a lot of work to do, and the team is committed to doing that work for the community.Once [BF2042] reaches a state where we think the core is functioning properly, we'll start investing more heavily in the game and expanding it beyond what it currently has.Andrew WilsonWilson may be referring to seasonal development.
A full-fledged first season of BF2042 isn't due to begin until the summer, more than six months after its release.
That said, work on the next installment of the series has already begun, the media claim,Bonus news for those who read to the end: Wilson said that Battlefield Mobile is set to move into a new testing phase in late May, and a full launch could be either late 2022 or early 2023.
A lot depends on how many all sorts of tweaks and subtle balance changes will be needed based on the results of the tests.
